Business and Way of Life

Happy New Year!

It is now 2023.
The period since 2020 is clearly different from the decade that began in 2010. Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in December 2019, our previous freedom of movement was restricted. In the last two years, restrictions on global travel were gradually relaxed. Then, however, in February 2022 a global superpower invaded another country. In a world used to hearing of conflict in Africa or the Middle East, the eruption of the armed conflict called “war” between nations in Europe had been unthinkable.

Reviewing the past, we can say that the history of humanity is the history of war. While UNIVA CAPITAL does business in 14 countries and regions and employs individuals from 22 countries, we now confront what we thought was a thing of the past, war.

The UNIVA CAPITAL Group’s business philosophy begins with the statement,
“We contribute to global peace and harmony by creating
win-win-win relationships the world over in all of our activities.”

Since articulating this philosophy in 2006 when UNIVA CAPITAL was founded, we have frequently posed the question, “What is the relationship between world peace and business?”

But, what do we mean by “business”? Is it just to make money?

If we make more money, we have more money to spend on everyday life.
If we make more and more money, we can enjoy more expensive lives.
If we make more and more and more money, we can live a far more expensive life that requires even more money.

But is that all?

Business is ordinarily described as economic activity.
Now that business consumes so much of our lives, UNIVA CAPITAL believes that business is more than the framing that “economic activity” implies. It is a universal “human activity” and to ask “How should we do business?” is, by definition, “How should we live our lives?”

The UNIVA CAPITAL Group is active in a variety of business domains. Each domain has a way of life in which business is rooted. Profit results from its contribution to that way of life.

“Profit is the residue of society’s happiness.”

To create a structure that benefits society is not something that you can do alone. Nor is it something that your company can do by itself. It must be co-created with all sorts of people and companies. Value can only be created by working together. “Capitalism based on co-creation” is business activity that produces “win-win-win” and is based on community that transcends nationality and race. It is also the path to peace.”

Leg us band together as the UNIVA CAPITAL Group, co-create value, and make this year a year when we create more benefits for a happier society.

There is no night without a dawn.
There is no war without end.

May this year be a better year for the world and a better year for you. Together we can.
