AI Is Getting Interesting!
Are you using the topical generative AI chat tool “ChatGPT”? It is often introduced not only on the Internet but also on TV, and its name recognition is increasing considerably.
| Suggest five behaviors useful to company employees seeking a higher salary. | |
These behaviors, connected to results and evaluation, include elements that lead directly to higher compensation. Because, however, the elements seen as most important vary in each company and situation, please choose to behave in a way best suited to your personal situation and organizational culture. |
Note: The question presented here is a substantially abbreviated version of the actual prompt.
As indicated above, when ChatGPT is asked how a company employee can get a higher salary, it returns an “exemplary answer.” While the danger of AI and the ethical issues surrounding its use are fiercely criticized, especially for ordinary people who use this service the possibilities for outstanding output seem unlimited.
Except for some cases in which restrictions are imposed, ChatGPT can answer any question. It may answer questions for which it has no knowledge, sometimes cooly make up lies. But, personally speaking, that may, I think, be one of the reasons for its popularity. When people are confused, they look for clear answers. That is why fortunetellers, consultants, and critics exist. To not lose out to AI, these people with these occupations must possess their own unique strengths.
To extract the desired output from ChatGPT requires technique. Preconditions and clear specifications for the output may seem like common sense; but I have noticed that when we ask something of others in everyday life, we are often ambiguous.
At work we are often asked for “new ideas” or “unprecedented ways to get things done.” Still, most of our work is “properly executing what needs to be done.” We follow rules and policies, using to the full our knowledge of the job and dealing with the situation at hand. Here is where veterans’ skills are displayed.
That said, displaying standard choices based on rules and previous cases, is a task that is easy for AI. Irresponsible bosses who, even after discussion, offer only safe answers are likely to lose their jobs. Where the job only follows established patterns, producing reports without creativity, for example, relying on robots or AI may be the better choice.
There have already been many AI booms. AI is now used in many fields, autonomous vehicles, for example. But with the advent of AI that can talk like human beings, it isn’t hard to sense a sudden wave of change in everyone’s lives getting closer. Also, with old values turned topsy-turvy during the COVID pandemic, we may soon see dramatic changes in how we work.
The Internet and smartphones led to major changes in ways of doing business and how we do our jobs. It will be more and more fun to see how AI changes our lives and our jobs.
Where will it begin?
* I had intended to have ChatGPT write this whole article, but after trial and error, it couldn’t produce what I was looking for. I wound up writing it myself. Then, however, I created an AI-enhanced self-portrait.
